I had to go with the Mavericks 3PM in the 3rd quarter yesterday instead of Loyola Marymount because the UNI game didn’t finish in time. But I got the same result from the Mavs 3PM: GREEN. So here are all my soccer and basketball picks for this Saturday. There’s actually quite a few great matchups today, making up for some of the past couple days on SFTC.
9:30am Werder Bremen Win or Draw @ Hamburg Win
Werder Bremen’s road record is 2-5-4. In Bremen’s last away outing they drew last place SC Freiburg 2-2. Their last road win was back in Oct. 2011. Hamburg on the other hand has a 2-4-5 home record. In Hamburg’s last home outing they drew 2nd place Bayern Munich, but lost to first place Borussia Dortmond 5-1 the week before. Although Hamburg does play okay at home, all the numbers point to this game being a draw. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see a Bremen Win either. Werd.
The Pick: Werder Bremen Win or Draw Confidence: 2/3
12:05pm Wichita State Shockers @ Davidson Wildcats
The Shockers have played great on the road with their only loss coming in triple-overtime to drake almost a month ago. Davidson 12-1 at home and beat Kansas on the road. Their only home loss was to Vanderbilt which was the only quality team they have played at home. Wichita State plays a little bit tougher competition but their only impressive road win was against a now struggling Creighton team. I think this will be a close game, but I see the Shockers coming out on top.
The Pick: Wichita State Shockers Confidence: 1/3
12:05pm Marquette Golden Eagles @ Connecticut Huskies
Although defending champs UCONN has been a little down since Kemba left, they still play very well at home. They have a 12-2 home record(excluding games on neutral sites) with a 2-points loss to Notre Dame, 3-point loss to Cincy. Marquette has been pretty good this season but are 4-4 on the road. Their signature win on the road was at Wisconsin back in December. They also lost at LSU by 8points back in December, but their most recent road loss was a 17-point downfall to Notre Dame. This game should be good one. I could see this one being close and going either way. I see a sheep slaughter(currently 95+% for Marquette).
The Pick: Connecticut Huskies Confidence: 1/3
1:00pm UNLV Rebels @ New Mexico Lobos
New Mexico is coming off a big 10-point road win at #15 San Diego St, whereas UNLV is coming off a tough overtime road loss at TCU. UNLV has lost 3 of their last 5 road games, and their two wins were in overtime. New Mexico is 11-2 at home(excluding neutral site games). One was the second game of the season and the other was a 5-point loss to San Diego St. Teams usually struggle after an overtime loss and New Mexico is coming off their best game of the season. UNLV beat New Mexico at home by 17 but I think the teams will split the series. This one should be a close as well.
The Pick: New Mexico Lobos Confidence: 1/3
1:03pm Florida State Seminoles @ NC State Wolfpack
NC State just gave up a 20point leads to Duke two days ago and lost by 5, but Florida State just beat Virginia Tech in a low scoring affair. That being said, Florida State lost to a horrible Boston College team their last road game but they need this win at NC St. to keep pace with Duke and North Carolina. NC State may be 4th in the ACC, but they are 0-3 against ranked opponents and don’t have any big signature wins at home.
The Pick: Florida State Confidence: 1.5/3
1:45pm LSU Tigers @ South Carolina Gamecocks
If this game was taking place in Louisiana, LSU would be a lock. The tigers do play poorly on the road and have lost all 5 of their SEC road games. SC’s only wins in the SEC were their 1-point victory over Georgia and their 2-point victory over Alabama. I think LSU will finally show up for a road game here against the worst team in the SEC.
The Pick: LSU Tigers Confidence:1.5/3
2:05pm Missouri Wins by Double Digits @ Texas A&M Win or Single Digit Loss
Missouri has been excellent this year, and beat A&M at home by 19 points. A&M has usually been about 7-points better against teams at home than on the road, as in if they lost to Mizzou by 19 on the road the trend would be for them to lose by 12 at home. I believe Missouri will win this game. But their last 3 road wins were by 3 points or less. I think College Station will be amped up and the home court advantage will be huge.
The Pick: Texas A&M Win or Single Digit Loss Confidence: 1/3
2:05pm Akron Zips @ Oral Roberts Golden Eagles
Akron is in a slightly tougher conference than ORU. The Zips aren’t that great on the road however, and Oral Roberts has played teams from better conference closer including 6 and 7 point losses on the road at West Virginia and Gonzaga(a very tough place to play).
The Pick: Oral Roberts Confidence 1.5/3
3:30pm San Antonio Spurs @ Los Angeles Clippers
The spurs bring a 9-game win streak to the table, but they are taking a trip to Lob City. Clippers are 11-3 at home and the Spurs are 8-8 on the road. The Spurs beat the Clippers by 25 in San Antonio back in December. The Clippers just beat a Portland team without Aldrige by 3 two days ago, but lost their last home game against a quality opponent by 21(Nuggets).
The Pick: San Antonio Spurs Confidence: 1/3
4:00pm Osasuna Win or Draw @ Sevilla FC
Sevilla FC hasn't won a game since December 3rd against a mediocre Getafe team, but got a new coach Feb. 4th. They are 0-6-2 thier last 8 games. Osasuna is coming off of a big home when against 2nd place Barcelona. They are 1-3-6 on the read this season including a loss at Barcelona by 8 and to Real Madrid by 7. The previous matchup between these two clubs ended in a 0 - 0 draw. Osasuna has only scored 9 goals on the road all year while conceding 24(15 to Barca and Madrid. Sevilla is 5-4-2 at home, scoring 16 goals and conceding 16. This matchup could very well end in a draw, but I think Sevilla FC snaps their losing streak to an Osasuna team struggling to score. (wouldn't risk a w5 or higher)
The Pick: Sevilla FC Confidence: 1/3
4:05pm Nevada 3-Pointers Made or Tie @ Iona Winning Margin
Two teams out in first place in their respective conferences collide in this matchup. Iona is 7-1 at home and Nevada is 8-1 on the road with their only loss being to currently #11 UNLV by 4. Nevada attempts about 19 3’s a game and makes around 7 of them. I can see this one going either way but I think Nevada will keep it close.

4:05pm No. Carolina Wins by 15+ Points or Any Other Result (Clemson @ No. Carolina)
Clemson isn’t that great on the road, and North Carolina needs this win to keep up in the ACC championship race. North Carolina should have this one by 15 barring a very unlikely upset.
The Pick: North Carloina by 15+ Points Confidence: 1.5/3
6:05pm Saint Mary’s Gaels @ Murray State Racers
Murray State only has one loss, but their strength of schedule has been average at best. But Saint Mary’s is coming off a 15 point loss at home to LMU. They are 1-2 in their last 3 games. Murray State wants to make a statement here and comes to play at home.
The Pick: Murray State Confidence: 1.5/3
6:05pm Florida Winning Margin @ Arkansas 3-Pointers Made or Tie
Despite being 0-8 on the road, Arkansas is 17-1 at home. The Gators are 3-5 on the road with 3 of their losses coming to top three teams. Arkansas makes 6 of the 18 threes they attempt per game. I think Florida wins this one and gives the Razorbacks their first home loss, but I think it’ll go down to the final couple minutes.
The Pick: Arkansas 3-Pointers Made or Tie Confidence: 1/3
7:05pm Minnesota Golden Gophers @ Northwestern Wildcats
The Wildcats are 10-3 at home with their only loss by more than 2 points being to Baylor. Northwestern is on a 2-game losing streak after their last 2 road losses. The gophers are also on a 2 game losing streak having dropped their last two home games to Wisconsin and Ohio State. Minnesota is 3-4 on the road including an impressive win at Indiana. Minnesota won the last matchup between the two teams at home by 23 points. Both teams are 5-8 in the Big 10 and this game should be decided in the final couple possessions.
The Pick: Minnesota Golden Gophers Confidence: 1/3
9:00pm Wyoming Cowboys @ Colorado State Rams
The Cowboys are 5-4 on the road with a respectable win at Colorado(respectable, not impressive). The Rams on the other hand are 11-1 including a 17 point when over then 12th ranked San Diego State. The Rams are a different team at home, and I think they improve their home record.
The Pick:Colorado State Rams Confidence: 1/3
9:05pm Ohio State Winning Margin @ Michigan 3-Pointers Made or Tie
Michigan is 3rd in the Big Ten and brings a 15-0 home record to the match-up. Ohio State is 4-3 on the road. The Wolverines make 8 of their 23 3-Pointers a game on average. Ohio State hasn’t been very impressive lately and Michigan has been stellar at home. I honestly think Michigan may win this outright, but they definitely will not lose by more than 8.
The Pick: Michigan 3-Pointers Made or Tie Confidence: 2/3
10:05pm Long Beach State 49ers @ Creighton Bluejays
Long Beach has been on a hot streak lately and is 12-0 in the Big West. They lost close games at North Carolina and Kansas and won at Pittsburgh. Creighton has been on a downslide lately, losing 3 of their last 4. Creighton does play in a tougher conference but they are not at the caliber of KU, No. Carolina, or Pitt. I think Long Beach takes this one on the road adding to Creighton’s skid.
The Pick: Long Beach State 49ers Confidence: 1.5/3
